Is this you?

You had a plan. You were going to take the world by storm and show everyone that you are capable of accomplishing anything. But then life happened. You got stuck in a job (comfortable or not), or you have been letting bad relationships and friends pull you down into the abyss. The cool thing about turning over a new leaf is that you can do it as many times as you need. Here is a no-nonsense guide on how to get your life back together so you can start achieving your goals once again! #NewYouTrueBlue

Accept Where You Could Have Made Better Choices
The first step in getting your life back together is accepting where you could have made better choices and didn’t. You MUST take accountability. Admit out loud- even if alone- where you failed yourself. This may be difficult for some people, but it is essential if you want to move forward and make positive changes in your life. Acknowledge the mistakes made and use them as motivation moving forward. Do not read on until you’ve done this.

Get Serious About Your Goals
Once you have discovered and accepted where you could have done something different, it’s time to get serious about your goals and what you want out of life. Write down a list of goals (both long-term and short-term) that are realistic yet challenging enough to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Share these goals with someone who can help hold you accountable—such as a partner or trusted friend—and keep your action plan for how they will be achieved visible and handy. You’ll be using it…as long as you want to keep achieving goals.

Learn The Scarcity Of Time
Your time on this earth is finite; once it’s gone, there’s no getting it back. Think about how much time has already been wasted due to your procrastination or allowing yourself drift aimlessly. “I’ll start tomorrow”, “I’ll start next week”, and “I’ll start at the beginning of the month” are excuses. Don’t let any more time slip away; make sure each day is spent working towards something important and meaningful for yourself as well as for others around you. Remember, you don’t need to achieve the goal, or even a subgoal every day. You just need to know that you moved the ball forward.

Remove Negativity From Your Life
The next step in getting your life back together is assessing where negativity in your life comes from, whether a bad job, bad partner, bad friends or even bad family members. You don’t need to cut these people off completely but rather set boundaries for what type of behavior will be tolerated in your presence, and honor your boundaries moving forward. If someone does not respect those boundaries then they do not deserve a place in your life- they don’t respect you. If you allow them to disrespect your boundaries, they’ll think you aren’t serious and they’ll continue to take advantage of you.

Stop Procrastinating
Finally, stop procrastinating! Waiting for “a better opportunity” is just another convenient excuse we give ourselves when we don’t feel like doing something right away. Instead of waiting around or avoiding until something goes away on its own (which rarely happens), roll up your sleeves and dive right in! Taking action right now can bring about major change faster than any other strategy so don’t let opportunities pass you by any longer! The rush you get from finally doing that thing that’s been living in your head will propel you forward to do one more thing. And then one more thing, and one more.

Getting your life back on track doesn’t happen overnight; it takes dedication and hard work but it is worth the effort! Start by being honest with yourself about where mistakes may have been made. Get serious about setting realistic yet challenging goals for yourself that can be shared with others. Understand the scarcity of time; each day should be spent working towards something meaningful because it will never come back again! Begin removing negative influences from your life so only positive energy remains- surrounded by those who truly care about your happiness. Lastly, stop procrastinating because waiting around aimlessly won’t get you any closer towards achieving greatness – it’ll just make it take longer. With the right mindset, dedication, and personal accountability anyone can get their lives back on track. I believe in you, do you believe in yourself?
